At the GPTW 2018 edition, Sterling Bank was only awarded the workplace with Best Quality of Life.
But as the bank had significantly improved on its culture over the last year, it clinched the third best place to work in Nigeria this year.
Sterling Bank’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Temi Dalley received the awards on behalf of the organisation.
And in her statement, while receiving the awards, she described a best place to work as:
“An enabling environment, where employees trust the people they work with, derive a sense of meaning from their work and take pride in the overall success of their organisation.”
She said Sterling Bank Nigeria Plc had an outstanding and flexible work environment for all its employees most especially the millennial to perform excellently at their various posts of duty.
She said the bank had really invested in capacity building of its workforce and that had really helped in maintaining its entire workforce mix.
According to the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, GPTW, Kunle Malomo, the aim of the awards was to promote best practices and good workplace culture across Africa, not just to recognize the awards winners.
The awards which started six years ago had always been a success.
Meanwhile, the group aimed at extending the next edition to all the 36 states in Nigeria.
As a result of this, Great Place to Work (GPTW) 2020 edition will be expanded to 100 categories and more than 300 companies will be featured.
In conclusion, this was how Sterling Bank became third best place to work in Nigeria in 2019.
